Guest Lecture on Indian Space Exploration Saga

Dr. Jaya Saxena, a renowned scientist from the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) in Hyderabad, delivered an insightful guest lecture on the captivating saga of Indian space exploration, highlighting the significant milestones, technological advancements, and future aspirations that define India's journey in space research and satellite technology.

Guest Lecture on the Indian Space Ecosystem

Mr. Radha Krishna Kavuluru, Principal Engineer at Dhruva Space, delivered an engaging guest lecture providing an in-depth overview of the Indian space ecosystem. The lecture covered the orgin and history of rockets in various countries across the world and emphasized on how partnerships between governament and private space agencies are shaping India's dynamic space ecosystem for future advancements.

Workshop on Orbital Mechanics and Mission Planning.

Astra's Workshop on Orbital Mechanics and Mission Planning was an engaging session led by our President Vikranth and Vice President Sreshta. The workshop covered key topics like Orbital Planning, Mission Planning, Trajectory Design and Types of Orbits giving participants a glimpse into the intricacies of space exploration. It was an interactive and insightful experience for all the participants who have attended the workshop.

Guest Lecture on remote sensing for defense applications

Astra hosted a Guest Lecture on Remote Sensing for Defense Applications by Smt. Hari Priya Sakethapuram, a Scientist/Engineer at the National Remote Sensing Centre, ISRO. She explained what remote sensing technology is and what are its applications and advancements in Defence Sector, her expertise and experience in ISRO offered a deep understanding of how remote sensing contributes to national security and defense strategies. The lecture was informative and interactive and provided a valuable learning experience for all attendees.

LAUNCHPAD 2024

Launchpad is Astra's introductory program for first-year students, offering a gateway to explore the club and its technical teams—Team RPL, Team Satellite, and Team DART. Students can register as trainees in technical teams to work on real-time projects or apply for Administration Roles such as PR, Operations, Sponsorship, Design and Video Editing. The program aims to provide hands-on training, industry insights, and valuable experience, preparing students for real-world challenges in space exploration and beyond.

Represented our club at S2STEP:2025 & 6th Indian Planetary Science Conference at IIT Roorkee

Ipsitha Manthati and Adarsh NM from Chaitanya ASTRA proudly represented our club at S2STEP:2025 & the 6th Indian Planetary Science Conference (IPSC) at IIT Roorkee. They presented our CanSat model to Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman, ISRO, and engaged with global experts, including Dr. Young Ho Kim and Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant. The event fostered learning, networking, and collaboration with industry leaders like Dhruva Space and Space Geeks. This transformative experience will drive future innovations at Chaitanya ASTRA. We thank INSPACe, Dr. Vinod Kumar, and CBIT for their unwavering support.

Demonstrated our projects to esteemed scientists at DRDO

Team Astra had the privilege of interacting with esteemed scientists from DRDO during the One-Week Workshop on “Recent Advances in Design, Manufacturing & Testing of Composites” at Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology. The session provided valuable insights into the role of composite materials in aerospace applications, enhancing our understanding of their use in model rockets, CanSat prototypes, rovers, and drones. Engaging discussions with experts offered constructive feedback on our projects, inspiring us to push the boundaries of innovation in aerospace technology.

Chaitanya ASTRA at the Essentials of Model Rocketry Workshop hosted by IN-SPACe and ISRO

Vikranth Jonna and Sai Deepesh from Chaitanya ASTRA attended the Essentials of Model Rocketry Workshop by IN-SPACe, ASI, and ISRO at Air Force Station Jalahalli, Bengaluru. They gained hands-on experience in launch vehicle design, quality assurance, and advanced rocketry concepts through expert-led sessions from VSSC, HSFC, and SDSC. Vikranth had a transformative discussion with Dr. S. Somanath, Chairman of ISRO, while Deepesh expanded his technical expertise and industry connections. Their learnings will fuel Team ARKA’s Critical Design Review (CDR) stage, pushing the boundaries of student rocketry.

OurSatellite team clinched first position for their project AERO SPECTRA at the recent Technical Project Expo competition held at Osmania University. Aero Spectra project demonstrates an innovative approach for long-range satellite communication technology
